VELUX A/S and BayWa r.e. sign corporate power purchase agreements based on Spanish projects

VELUX A/S has signed corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) with BayWa r.e. based on two new solar parks to be built in southern Spain. Plesner has acted for VELUX A/S in all phases of its European PPA tender.

VELUX A/S has finalized a large European PPA tender by purchasing green electricity produced by two new solar parks in southern Spain, one close to Seville and the other near Granada, built and owned by BayWa r.e. The latter solar park will partially be constructed and operated as a modern Agri-PV technology.

This PPAs will pioneer the concept of solar plant symbiosis, which is a concept that integrates solar power production with nature and community for mutual benefit. The development of both solar parks will include a comprehensive plan and suite of community and environmental measures that will enhance local biodiversity and foster community involvement.

It is expected that the solar park will reach commercial operation in 2023 and 2024 and will produce 167 GWh of green electricity every year, equaling the electricity consumption of approx. 45,000 homes. The green electricity purchased under the PPAs will cover VELUX A/S' European operations.

VELUX A/S is a world-leading roof window manufacturer. BayWa r.e. is a German renewable energy developer, service provider, distributor and energy solutions provider.

Plesner's advice and assistance to VELUX A/S with the PPAs marks Plesner's market-leading role in concluding PPAs both in Denmark and abroad.
