Draft bill issued for consultation - handling of inspection tasks

The Ministry of Health has issued a draft bill for consultation proposing that inspection tasks pursuant Section 44(1) of the Danish Medicines Act are moved from the Danish Medicines Agency to the Danish Safety Technology Authority.

The Danish Safety Technology Authority will then be supervising (1) retailers' sale of over-the-counter drugs outside pharmacies, (2) sale of certain iron and vitamin preparations, and (3) sale of certain antiparasitic drugs for animals outside pharmacies. However, it is proposed that the Danish Medicines Agency still controls retailers' sale of medicines online.

Comments to the draft bill should be sent to the Ministry of Health no later than 13 August 2018.
