Plesner advises on Denmark's first Corporate Power Purchase Agreements

Plesner has over a long period of time been involved in negotiating the first Corporate PPAs in Denmark based on renewable onshore energy sources. The purpose of Corporate PPAs is to enter into agreements on fixed energy prices and reduce the carbon foot print of the corporation (the purchaser) at the same time by contributing to investment in and production of renewable energy.

The conclusion of Corporate PPAs is a new trend in Europe and Denmark. Put simply, a Corporate PPA is an agreement between an electricity producer and a corporation for the purpose of purchasing renewable energy. The corporation typically purchases electricity for a particular project at a prearranged price for a fixed period. The contents and the structure of a Corporate PPA vary as required.

Plesner expects an increasing number of Corporate PPAs to be concluded in the future concurrently with the increased focus on climate change and on corporations' individual climate profiles.

Plesner has assisted in the preparations, the negotiations and the drafting of the PPAs. Accordingly, Plesner has acquired market leading and unique knowledge of Corporate PPAs.

Most recently,Niklas Korsgaard Christensen gave a presentation at the conference on Corporate PPAs organised by Wind Denmark and Wind Sweden for actors from both Scandinavia and the rest of Europe.
