KoBold Metals and Bluejay Mining is announcing a joint venture agreement regarding mineral exploration in Greenland

KoBold Metals, whose investors among others include Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Ray Dalio and Michael Bloomberg, will, pursuant to this agreement, search for new large deposits of battery metals and metals used for green transition. Plesner has assisted KoBold Metals in negotiating, structuring, and concluding the joint venture agreement.

KoBold Metals has entered into a joint venture agreement with Bluejay Mining, by which KoBold Metals through a funding of DKK 95 million will own 51 percent of the project, while Bluejay will maintain ownership of 49 percent. 

With modern technology, KoBold Metals will seek new large deposits of battery metals and metals used for green transition. This include i.e. nickel, copper, and cobalt. These metals are vital to the green transition, including especially the transport sector, where raw materials for batteries are crucial.

KoBold Metals is among others owned by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, a climate and technology fund founded by Bill Gates, which in addition to Bill Gates has a number of prominent investors, including Jeff Bezos, Ray Dalio and Michael Bloomberg. Additionally, KoBold Metals is owned by Norwegian Equinor and the American venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.

Plesner assisted KoBold Metals in the negotiation, structuring, and implementation of the joint venture agreement.
