Flying Tiger Copenhagen expands into Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Indonesia and the Philippines

Zebra A/S, the company behind the retail chain Flying Tiger Copenhagen, has expanded its global presence by entering into a Franchise Agreement with Azadea Group, a Franchise Agreement with Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI Group), and a Retail Development Agreement with PT Ritel Panen Adiperkasa, which is part of the Indonesian retail lifestyle group PT. Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP), all regarding the exclusive rights to develop and operate the Flying Tiger Copenhagen concept in Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Indonesia and the Philippines, respectively. Plesner has assisted Flying Tiger Copenhagen with the expansion into these new countries.

The Flying Tiger Copenhagen retail chain currently consists of 888 stores in 32 countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and the expansion into Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Indonesia and the Philippines is part of a global expansion of the Flying Tiger Copenhagen concept.

Expansion into Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar

Zebra A/S and the Azadea Group have expanded their cooperation by entering into a Franchise Agreement regarding the Azadea Group's exclusive rights to develop and operate the Flying Tiger Copenhagen franchise concept in Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar, respectively.

The Azadea Group is a premier lifestyle retail company that owns and operates more than 37 leading international franchise concepts in fashion and accessories, food and beverage, home furnishings, sporting goods, multimedia and beauty and cosmetics across the Middle East and Africa, spread across more than a dozen countries overseeing more than 700 stores.

Azadea Group is currently the exclusive franchisee of the Flying Tiger Copenhagen franchise concept in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and with the current expansion, Flying Tiger Copenhagen will now be present in all the 6 GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries.

Expansion into Indonesia

By entering into the Retail Development Agreement with MAP, MAP will be granted exclusive rights to open and operate a large number of Flying Tiger Copenhagen stores in Indonesia. Indonesia is a large market with nearly 300 million people and the current expansion is Flying Tiger Copenhagen's first step into South-Eastern Asia. 

MAP, listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, is the leading retailer within lifestyle products in Indonesia with over 2,500 retail and department stores, and has a diversified product portfolio that includes sports, fashion, children's products, food, beverage, and other lifestyle products. MAP employs more than 25,000 people.

Expansion into the Philippines

Flying Tiger Copenhagen takes another step into South-Eastern Asia by entering into a Franchise Agreement, with the SSI Group regarding the SSI Group's exclusive rights to develop and operate the Flying Tiger Copenhagen franchise concept in the Philippines. The Philippines is a large market with more than 100 million people.

The SSI Group is a large Philippine retailer listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), with an established brand portfolio that currently includes 96 brands and 555 stores. SSI's brand portfolio covers a wide range of lifestyle concepts, spanning the luxury, casual and fast fashion, beauty, footwear, home and restaurant categories.
