Registrations are open! The Plesner Pre-Moot returns on 16 and 17 March 2023

The Plesner Pre-Moot returns in March 2023. The pre-moot will serve as preparation for the 30th annual Vis Moot competition - the world's largest and most prestigious moot court competition in the field of arbitration.

Each spring, the international arbitration community gets together to take part in the annual William C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot) as "mooties", coaches and arbitrators. This year, law students from around the globe will be testing their legal savvy and advocacy skills in a mock arbitration concerning the sale of drones under the Permanent Court of Arbitration Rules (PCA Rules) and the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG).

The competition gains in popularity every year and plays an important role in the education and shaping of the dispute resolution practitioners of tomorrow. The Vis Moot also offers a unique venue for experienced professionals to network and discuss contemporary issues of the trade.

Plesner wants to invest in future generations and to contribute to the development and sharing of knowledge across borders and legal practice areas, including international dispute settlement.

Since 2018, Plesner has deepened its engagement in developing tomorrow's practitioners through a cooperation with the University of Copenhagen to coach the university's Vis-Moot team. The 2022/2023 team is composed of hand-picked Master students who will represent the school of law in the Vis Moot. As the leading Danish law firm in the field of international dispute resolution, Plesner is organizing its 5th pre-moot in 2023.

The Plesner Pre-Moot will take place at Plesner’s offices in Copenhagen on 16-17 March 2023. Here, the students will have the opportunity to measure themselves against their peers, to refine their arguments and to receive feedback from experienced arbitration practitioners. The Plesner Pre-Moot also offers the participating "arbitrators" a unique chance to share their knowledge and experiences with the students and other practitioners in an informal setting.

This year, the competition will consist of five general rounds of oral argument and a final (sixth) round for first and second places. The finals will take place in our auditorium with the other participants as an audience to mirror the finals in Vienna.
