Plesner named best Nordic law firm

Plesner has been named "Nordic Law Firm of the Year 2016" by the recognised international magazine The Lawyer. It is the first time ever a Danish law firm achieves this honour.

Plesner competed against law firms such as Dittmar & Indrenius, Schjødt and Mannheimer Swartling. The Lawyer highlights the following in its announcement:

"Bucking a general market trend in Denmark, Plesner has reported consistent growth in both its top and bottom line in recent years and is setting forth a vision for future expansion.

The firm is in the midst of developing its latest strategic plan, building on past aims of being one of the top five firms in the Nordic region. It now wants to be “an absolute market leader” across legal advisory services, M&A and complex litigation, by working as a collaborative team.

That extends to growing Plesner’s relationships with a small, selected group of referral partners in key jurisdictions. The firm is moving to institutionalise those relationships.

Plesner also demonstrates a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, with judges picking out its ‘school project’ initiative for particular praise. The project involves Plesner supporting classes at two schools with a high percentage of second generation immigrants, in a bid to keep students in school and focused on continued education.

Judges described the firm’s entry as "refreshing" and also commented on Plesner’s strong staff and lawyer retention rates."

Roschier, Castrén & Snellman, and Schjødt are the most recent holders of the title "Nordic Law Firm of the Year".
